January 16: National Fig Newton Day

It’s such a bummer that this isn’t just “newton” day. I thoroughly enjoy an apple newton. It’s like a mini little pie! A package is rows of miniature apple pies, just for you!

But fig newtons are gross. Their seeds are crunchy and it makes me think I’m eating bugs. Not that I’m opposed to eating bugs, it’s just I’d like them to be up front about it and not hide little crunchy bugs in fig goo.

Tomorrow: Hot Buttered Rum Day

January 6: National Shortbread Day

Under most circumstances, I make my own shortbread. In fact, my shortbread was featured at the very beginning of this Quest for Glory (the very first post I did!!) on National Homemade Cookie Day. But sometimes the idea of baking after a long day of work is horrible and you’d much rather give your money to Starbucks. :/

Tomorrow: National Tempura Day

December 4: National Cookie Day

I could have baked any number of cookies for National Cookie Day. I could have strolled into any grocery store and walked out with a bag of America’s Favorite Cookie (R). But sometimes you don’t want an entire batch or an entire bag of cookies all to yourself. So you take yourself to the local Golden Arches and get a cookie for 50 cents. And you know what? It’s not half bad.

Tomorrow: National Sacher Torte Day
